Oh, my goodness. . .

Only those words seem appropriate to describe the experience of meeting a grandbaby for the first time! Brett, Sarah and Avery spent a week with us during our mid-term break. Avery was born in January and we had not yet seen her. She delighted us with her darling personality. She is a studier of people; she wants to know everything about a face. Our favorite trick is her growly bear; she growls in response to someone growling at her unless it is her dad and then she growls spontaneously. How grateful we are for the time we had to get to know her.

How could anyone resist kissing that face?

Brett got his one wish for his visit to Samoa--climbing a coconut tree!

Now you probably understand why she growls at Daddy; I think it is an invitation to play!

Nothing better in this world than to hold a sleeping grandbaby--heaven!

Part of the great joy of this visit was to watch Brett and Sarah as parents. They have figured out how to provide an environment that has allowed Avery to develop into a happy, healthy, secure baby. We loved every minute of their visit.

PS. We had the kids in our Institute Council ask us today if we would stay another year. While that felt really good, how could we not come home to all of our darling grandkids?
