Since I am new to this you will have to forgive me as I learn. The girls talked me into a blog so that all who are interested can keep track of us on our mission--I am sure this will be a small group of folks.
We had plans of going on a mission in a few years and thanks to our sweet Stake President we decided it was time. We have been working towards this day for a few years. Our call came last week. We will be going to Samoa in October or November on a CES/PEF assignment. Since teaching is what we love it feels like a perfect fit.
We are both looking forward to living in a country we both love. Reed is excited to interact with the Samoans again and is hopeful that some of them still speak Samoan. As for me I hope most of them speak English! I have lived with this language for 30+ years and it still makes little or no sense to me. I know that those of you who know me well understand that--I think it is all tied to my lack of ability to hear music. As most of you know, there are times that English is a challenge for me!
I know that I will reach a point after the excitement has worn off that I will be terribly homesick and miss all of you. I also know beyond question that we will all be blessed because of the collective sacrifice we will make. (I am making the assumption that you see it as a sacrifice for us to be gone.)
I will do my best to keep my posts interesting. Between now and when we leave you probably won't see much from me because I will be doing very important things like putting together my stylish missionary wardrobe. On a serious note, I know that the next few months will be filled with some spiritual preparation and serious prayer as we work towards being able to get on a plane and say good-bye for 18 months. Just always remember how much you are loved.
